We suggest that the day, when Sochi was proclaimed the capital of the winter Olympic Games of 2014, should be marked in the calendar as a historical date. The honour of being the Olympic capital was given to Sochi a year ago — on July, 4, 2007.

Both the authorities and ordinary citizens triumphed that day. Sports have again become prior for the Russian authorities. «A Russian sportsman» again sounds proud. «A Russian sports fan» has again become a lifestyle. More and more often we catch ourselves at thinking that we are not ashamed of our team. And they in their turn feeling our support are ready to try their best and win over and over again.

Oh, sport, you are a world! Oh, sport, are you that very national idea we’ve been searching for so long? The anniversary of that voting in Guatemala, significant for Russia, is worth celebrating. Specially on the occasion of this event the Publishing House «MediaYug» presents a new exclusive project— the international magazine «The Olympic Herald».

We intend to cover the preparations to the winter Olympic Games of 2014, made by our country and the whole world, in a detailed, objective and professional manner during the next six years. We hope that our publication will be equally interesting and useful to everybody who is anyhow concerned with the Olympics, who plays the key role in their organization. Consider «The Olympic Herald» as our contribution into the preparations to the Games. Sochi-2014 is our Olympic interest.
