Even the threat of death does not prevent modern sportsmen from taking dope, testify the results of the poll spent in the USA.

The first dope in sports — are sheep's testicles. The Olympians swallowed them in 776 year B.C. to increase the level of tesosterone. Also they used cola plants, hashish, stimulators on the basis of a cactus, mushrooms Amanita muscaria, and other simple means.

The European bicyclists of the end of XIX-th century took drugs which contained substances from caffeine to cocaine. During the Olympic Games of 1904 American Thomas Hicks had won marathon race, and then he was brought to life by four doctors. Before the start Hiks had drunk a cocktail containing brandy, cocaine and strychnine. Marathoner was ready to do everything to get a gold medal. The doping control at the Olympic level appeared in 1968. The first great take was noted during the Munich Olympic Games of 1972 — the American swimmer Rik De Monte was acccused of taking ephedrine. Subsequently it appeared, that De Mont was the asthmatic and he had medical permission for ephedrine treatment. Then, almost all skiers and biathlonists of the Scandinavian countries became «asthmatics». The Olympic Games in Sydney gathered more than 600 «asthmatics»-Olympians. Struggle against a dope has always provoked hot discussions. There is an opinion, that sportsmen have always used and will use chemical additives, which will allow to improve the results. Once again it was confirmed by the poll, spent by Americans: «If to you were given a medicine, which would help you to win the Olympic Games, but you would die in five years, would you take it?» Half from five hundred athletes have answered affirmatively.

Russian «achievements» in doping

In January, 2008 the International federation of boat racing (FISA) threatened to disqualify Russian team: within a year seven members of the Russian Federation team were caught taking the dope.

In August, 2008 seven Russian athletes were suspended from participation in all tournaments at once for doping violations. Except two of them, all the others were part of the Olympic Russian Federation team.

In February, 2009 the International union of biathlonists suspended from participation in all competitions those sportsmen, whose doping tests «A» gave positive result. Ekaterina Yuryeva, Albina Ahatova and Dmitry Yaroshenko have not passed the doping test.

«The doping control deprives of personal space»

Andrey Moiseyev, the pentathlonify the twofold Olympic champion:

Concerning the doping control all responsibility is shifted onto sportsmen. We should constantly inform doping service of where we are at the certain time. It sticks to one place, deprives of personal space. And the life of the sportsman is very mobile. Nobody pays attention to it for some reason. But if you were absent in H-hour, even for a good reason, nobody would care: the penalty — 500 euros. Two warnings for absence — disqualification. Doping officers can appear suddenly with the test tubes at night before the start, or early in the morning. This really unsettles. Once I had to pass the doping control for 20 times a week (!). I have an impression, that doping control is a business. The more tests they will take, the more money they will earn.

«If you don't watch over what you take, — you will get into a pretty mess»

Andrey Silnov, the holder of a gold medal for the Olympic Games in Beijing. The champion by number of the taken doping tefts:

— We practice sports at a full sretch, the loads that we get are frequently harmful. Certainly, drugs are necessary for keeping of the physical form. Doctors prescribe them for us. The other thing is, that pharmacologists have to specify in the annotation to pills, if they contain the substances forbidden for sportsmen or not. There is no such practice in Russia for some reason. It is very easy to get confused. The number of the forbidden drugs grows by leaps and bounds. I do not understand the logic. For example, my foot aches and there are good anti-inflammatory drugs, which do not influence the physical form in any way. However, I cannot take this medicine, because it is forbidden.
