I thank Russians for not considering me a betrayer

Anastasia Kuzmina (Slovakia), gold medal in sprint and silver medal in pursuit at the Olympic games in Vancouver:

— My result in Vancouver was a surprise for me. I didn't expect I could win gold. I set a goal to win a medal — no matter which one. I felt a great responsibility while preparing for the Olympic games: the whole Slovakia was waiting a medal from me, a half of Russia also supported me. I thank Russians very much for their continuing support and for not considering me a betrayer.

I'm very glad everything coincided for me so successfully on the first day: the skis were sliding well, I felt myself perfectly and the shooting was sure. And the first day it was gold! It was a shock to me!

My aim for the next season is, first of all, try to stay in the top. I think it won't do without changes in the training process. I hope to repeat the success. of Vancouver in Russia, my native country. Having won the Olympic medal I shouldn't stop. Its a big motivation for me to go on doing my favorite work.
