Every day it affects the increasing number of the high-ranking and ordinary Russians, stated Maksim Fyodorov, the editor-in-chief of the magazine «Olympic Reporter».

Less than in two months Sochi will officially become the capital of the next — XXII winter Olympic Games. On February, 28th, 2010 during the closing ceremony of XXI winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, the Olympic flag will be handed to the mayor of the city Anatoly Pakhomov. Till that time the IOC, probably, could cancel the victory of Sochi for any reasons, after this date — it would hardly can.

Critics from among the domestic call more often into question the terms and quality of building; critics-foreigners try to play a political card. However, neither those, nor others do not find support, first of all among the IOC inspectors, who, actually, lay a key role in the Olympic Games.

Russian officials had enough courage to admit, that the megaproject has faced a number of serious problems of administrative and legal character. At the same time they categorically deny the influence of world crisis. Moreover: there are already prospects of garden-city after the Games (see the article «Hospitality test» and «We need to make Sochi French Riviera', pages 32, 36). For already three years there has been going the virus of Olympic optimism in Moscow and Sochi. «Morning gymnastics is necessary everywhere — at schools, high schools, health resorts, at the city enterprises… Schoolboys of the resort should go to sport-clubs after studies, which should work till 22:00…», — mayor Anatoly Pakhomov can enumerate priorities for a long time. And what if he and his colleagues have really found new national idea, which Russia had already almost despaired to find?..
